The process

How the referral works

  1. You send a request

Use the form below or call. Give your neighborhood, the problem, and whether it is urgent.

  2. We pass it to a contractor

We forward your details to an independent contractor who serves your part of Boston.

  3. The contractor contacts you

They confirm the problem, give you a price and set a time. Response times depend on the contractor.

  4. You decide

Any work, price and warranty is an agreement between you and the contractor. You are free to say no.

Safety first

Do not fix springs or cables yourself

Garage door springs and lift cables hold a lot of stored tension. A release can cause serious injury. Until a contractor arrives:

  • Do not stand under or walk through a door that is partly open.
  • Do not try to force the door up or down.
  • Keep children and pets away from the door.
  • Pull the red emergency release only if the door is fully closed or fully open.

Service area

Boston neighborhoods and nearby towns

Cold snaps and heavy snow are hard on springs and openers, so winter is a busy season. Availability varies by contractor and by area.

Questions

Before you request

Do you repair garage doors?

No. We are a referral service only. We connect you with an independent local contractor, and the contractor performs and is responsible for the work.

Does it cost anything to use this service?

Sending a request does not cost you anything. The contractor sets the price for repairs and quotes you directly. We may receive a referral fee from the contractor.

Who sets the price and the warranty?

The contractor does. Ask for a written quote and the warranty terms on parts and labor before you agree to any work.

What should I ask the contractor?

Ask for proof of insurance, their Massachusetts registration or license where it applies, the total price including parts, and when they can arrive.

Is there a guaranteed arrival time?

No. Timing depends on the contractor's schedule and your location. Mark your request as urgent if the door is stuck open or will not close.
